What is DJ Voxchanger?

DJ Voxchanger is an application for iOS that allows you to transform vocals within a song. Powered by cutting edge cloud technology, DJ Voxchanger ushers in a new era of vocal manipulation.

What can DJ Voxchanger do?

After the vocal separation process is complete, DJ Voxchanger’s simple interface lets you instantly control the perceived gender and age of an artist or transform any vocalist into an Alien, Robot, Monster, and more!

    Quick Start

- Click on the Open Media Library label at the top of the app and choose a song from your local library. Note: iCloud Music will have to be downloaded to your device prior to use in DJ Voxchanger.

- Directly after import, DJ Voxchanger gets to work, creating an automatic separation based on where the voice is identified. Once the process is complete, the song will automatically begin playback.

- During playback, use the transformation matrix to quickly modify the perceived age and gender of a vocalist.

- Click on any locked feature to access the store for purchase options. Purchasing any feature also removes ads.

- Once purchased, you will also be able to access special effects such as Alien, Robot and Harmony by the Effects buttons, or to use the faders to precisly adjust the pitch, timbre, vibrato depth and frequency of a vocal.

- Purchase the Write package in order to record transformation adjustments over time, then playback, store and recall your automation settings.

- The Export package lets you share your transformations as both audio and video files to iTunes, SoundCloud, DropBox or any other supported apps installed on your device.

NOTE: The separation process does not occur on the entire song at import. You will be able to transform the beginning of the song, even if the end is still processing. For this reason, you will have to wait for the entire separation process to end before being able to export.

DJ Voxchanger accesses powerful cloud-based servers to separate and transform vocals. For optimal processing speeds we recommend a strong wifi or data connection.

All the tools you need to transform vocals within any song are available from a simple interface!

The entire interface can be seen from a single screen on an iPad.
On iPhone and iPod touch devices, you can swipe to the left and right to swap between the matrix and fader controls.

    Navigating Your Media Library

The Media Library lets you search, navigate and preview media on your device by Artist, Album, Track and Genre. You can access the media library at any time from the ‘Open Media Library’ label at the top of the interface. You can navigate the Media Library using the tabs at the base of the window.

iCloud Music is indicated with a cloud symbol. These tracks will have to be downloaded to your device prior to use in DJ Voxchanger.

You can preview a song using the Play button, or select it for use in DJ Voxchanger by clicking on the track title.

Click on the Cancel button to return to your current DJ Voxchanger project.

    Available features

The transformation matrix allows you to quickly modify the perceived gender of a vocalist.

Move up on the matrix to create a more feminine, high pitched vocal. Move down to create a deeper, masculine vocal. Move towards the left of the matrix to age a vocalist, or move to the right for a younger vocalist.

Each button corresponds to a specific pitch, timbre and vibrato setting that’s dialed in during analysis of your song in order to optimally transform perceived gender and age. For this reason, you’ll notice the faders also move when you select a matrix button.

The faders allow you to precisely adjust the pitch, timbre, vibrato depth and frequency of a vocal.

Move the pitch slider up for a higher pitch or down for a lower pitch. Each notch on the pitch slider represents a musical interval that maintains tuning of the vocal relative to the backing music.

Move the Timbre fader up to brighten a voice, or down for a darker tone.

Dial-in vibrato settings using the Vibrato Depth and Vibrato Freq. faders. Vibrato is typically characterised in terms of two factors: the amount of pitch variation ("Vibrato Depth") and the speed with which the pitch is varied ("Vibrato Freq.").

The effects buttons apply special transformations.

Most effects can be combined with matrix and fader settings. This means you can transform a vocalist into a young robot or add harmonies to an old male. The Monster effect is the only effect that will temporarily ignore your matrix and fader settings.

The Write Package will allow you to memorize, playback, save and recall transformations.

Press the Write button and hit Play in order to have DJ Voxchanger record your transformation adjustments.

Click on Stop in order to stop recording your transformations. DJ Voxchanger will ask you if you want to stop recording at that point or apply your current transformation settings through to the end of the song.

The recorded part of the song will then be displayed in red on the timeline.

You can then save your preset recorded transformations using the button at the top-left of the interface and load them at any time, or start over and clear the current preset.

You can export and share your remix from the button at the top-right of the interface.

An audio file will automatically be exported. You may also choose to export a video clip of your remix and save it to your Camera Roll.

Once the export is complete, you may choose to upload your audio to SoundCloud, or open your audio or video with previously installed apps on your device such as Dropbox, Mail and more. Click Done to return to your project.

To access your files, connect your device to a computer, open iTunes, navigate to your device, then select the Apps settings, scroll to the File Sharing heading and select DJ Voxchanger. This will display all exported audio and video files from DJ Voxchanger that are on your device. You can drag and drop these files onto your desktop, or play them inside of iTunes.

Can I try this app for free?

Yes! Nevertheless, you will only have access to limited matrix transformation options. Exporting, effects and other features are available for purchase.

Simply click on any locked feature to access the Store and unlock it. Purchasing any feature also removes the ads present in the free version.
